Lee Roy Selmon has a tradition that blends family scholarship football and volunteer work in the community. His family's first name is his father was the youngest of nine kids who were raised in Eufala with Lucious Selmon. In football, he played with three of his brothers for Oklahoma. All three of them were All-Americans. In 1973, Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy was named the best offensive lineman in the nation by the Outland and Lombardi Awards. Lee Roy won two championships, and the score was 32-1-1 over his three seasons as the Oklahoma's starting linebacker. Selmon was given a second scholarship in 1975 and named as a National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon was awarded a degree from education. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer hours per week during the college. After graduation, he landed in Tampa playing nine years for the Buccaneers was all-pro three times and started an entrepreneurial career. In 1988, he was an Account Representative for Tampa's First Florida Bank and worked on the following groups: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute on the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. There's no surprise that Lee Roy was honored when the Junior Chamber of Commerce designated Lee Roy as one of the 10 most notable young men in the country. As a student, Lee Roy was 6-2 and weighs a little over 256 lbs. He was captain of his college team in the year 1975. In 1993, Roy joined the University of South Florida's sports department as the Director of Athletics as an associate. The College Football Hall of Fame was named for his in 1988. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame, in 1995. Parents, Lucious and Mary Selmon Sr. received the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation. Henry Bellmon the Governor of Oklahoma presented the award.
