Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington is a Greek American author syndicated columnist and businesswoman. She was a co-founder of The Huffington Post the founder and chief executive officer of Thrive Global and the author of 15 books. Arianna Huffington is an author and philanthropist as well as a television host as well as the proprietor of the independently liberal online news magazine The Huffington Post. Her birthplace was Greece she was able to move to England at the age of 16 and was able to graduate from Cambridge University with an MA in Economics. At 21 she became president of the renowned debate club The Cambridge Union' and was the first non-native student who was elected to this position. Her popularity as a columnist of the conservative side was confirmed after she finished her degree. After the launch of The Huffington Post a few years later, she created an online voice-portal that provided critical opinions on the politics. In part, her fame helped in attracting several famous contributors. Arianna gained fame in 2003 when she decided to contest as an independent candidate for the California recall election in order to succeed the then governor Davis. In addition, she led a Detroit initiative that promoted fuel efficient vehicles. Forbes listed her as one of the "most powerful woman" in the media industry, placing her at 12th. Guardian placed her on their list of the 100 most influential media people in 2009. AOL purchased The Huffington Post from AOL in 2011. In 2012, she became the head of AOL's media group. The group included several AOL-owned properties, such as Engadget AOL Style List and Patch Media. She was born to a journalist and manager Konstantinos as well as his spouse Elli Stasinopoulos. Her character was formed by the closeness she had to her mother and her bond with her father even though she was very close to the latter. She displayed leadership qualities throughout her childhood. She moved to England at sixteen to further her studies and was accepted into Girton College Cambridge. She was a member of the Cambridge Union college debate society during her time at college in which she became the third female to serve as president. She graduated in 1972 with the degree of master's in Economics. After her graduation she worked as a columnist critic and a television host. In addition, she appeared with Bernard Levin in an episode of Face the music and started creating books with his editorial assistance.
