April Ross

April Ross has won more than one Olympic gold medal. She is one of just a handful of female beach volleyball athletes to have achieved this feat. In Tokyo in the coming days she will attempt to claim her third Olympic medal alongside first-time Olympian Alix Klineman. Ross is determined to earn more than just her first Olympic medal. This could be the final opportunity she gets as she is 39 years old. But she is confident that most prestigious prizes are at hand. If we can perform to our highest and even perform properly, I'm sure we'll get that gold medal Ross declared on NBC Boston. In addition, I'm hoping to have some chance. Ross came into the world in 1982. Costa Mesa California where she resided with her parents and her sister. Ross competed in many sports while attending Newport Harbor High School. As a student-athlete she played indoor track and volleyball. She was definitely the top when it came to indoor volleyball. According to her bio, she was an outside blocker as well as a middle hitter in the volleyball court throughout her high school career. She was named the Gatorade National Circle of Champions player of the year in 1999 due to her accomplishments. She also won her an Orange County Athlete of the Year award in 2000. Ross and Klineman started their partnership in 2017, but Ross was an established volleyball player for years before. In reality, she was the winner of several major championships while playing with two partners. One that is also famous for her volleyball skills. They teamed up with Jennifer Kessy from 2007-2013, in addition to serving as Klineman and Kessy's coach. Together with Kessy Ross, the duo won a World Title in 2009, while racing in the international circuit. They also won the Silver Medal from the 2012 Olympic Games held in London. They were eliminated for the gold medal by the famous team comprised of Misty May-Treanor as well as Kerri Walsh (Jennings). Ross Walsh was Walsh Jennings new partner after May-Treanor's departure. They went on to earn the beach volleyball bronze at the Rio Olympics in the year 2016. Ross was a college athlete who played for the Trojans at USC before beginning her pro career. She played at high school as well as in the years before getting on the beach to become a professional. Ross's playing time with the Trojans was awe-inspiring. In 2000, she was awarded Pac-10 Freshman of the Year and NCAA Freshman Of The Year. She was also named an All-American. The Trojans also reached the Final Four. The second season of her career, she was devastated by a personal tragedy, but was capable of being selected as an All-American. In her two final years playing for the Trojans the team, she played a key role in helping succeed in winning consecutive championships. As an individual She established her spot as a legend by winning the Honda Sports Award for 2003-04. The award went to the top female college player of the year in America. Ross was a major in international relations at USC. Sadly, Ross mom Margie didn't get to watch Ross rise to the most elite levels in beach volleyball's acclaim. In 2001 when Ross was a sophomore at USC her mother passed away from breast cancer. She continues to cherish her late parent. Margie is a constant source of inspiration for her in and out on the beach.
